NHS Healthy Living is a free NHS online service designed to support people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes* to build the knowledge, confidence and skills to live well.

We offer two digital support programmes:

  1. Healthy Living for people with type 1 diabetes

  2. Healthy Living for people with type 2 diabetes

Our programmes are here to support you with practical, trusted information that fits around your life. You can learn at your own pace, revisit topics whenever you need to, and use a range of tools to help you make positive changes that last; at a time and place that suits you!

*If you have been diagnosed with another type of diabetes (such as monogenic, type 3c or secondary diabetes) we recommend you contact your GP / diabetes care team to find out which programme they feel will best support you.

Developed by NHS experts

The NHS Healthy Living service is brought to you by the team from University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

Our two digital diabetes support programmes have been developed by the Leicester Diabetes Centre, one of the UK’s leading centres for diabetes care, education and research. The Centre brings together experts from University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and the University of Leicester, combining world-leading research with everyday NHS care.

For over 20 years, our team has helped people living with diabetes through structured education programmes, like DESMOND and MyDESMOND, used across the NHS.

Our vast experience has shaped everything within Healthy Living; from the information you read to the tools that help you set goals, track your progress and stay motivated.

Built with people living with diabetes

The people who use this service help shape it.

We work closely with people living with diabetes, their families, carers and healthcare professionals to continually improve the service. Through user groups, workshops, surveys and ongoing feedback, we make sure the service reflects real and current experiences, different lifestyles and the challenges people face every day.

Listening to the people who use the service helps us keep it relevant, practical and easy to use.
