Accessibility Statement
The statement covers the two Healthy Living programmes - Healthy Living for people with type 1 diabetes and Healthy Living for people with type 2 diabetes – which make up the NHS Healthy Living service.
The purpose of the service is to provide people living with diabetes with education and tools to help them self-manage their health outcomes.
This web platform is owned and managed by University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) and is hosted by Promatica Digital Ltd, who together are committed to making the two programmes as accessible as possible for persons with visual, hearing, cognitive and motor impairments.
If required, Service Users can:
change colours, contrast levels and fonts
navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
navigate most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. My Computer My Way provide advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible the website is
A formal audit is yet to be carried out, this will take place by 01/01/2027.
We have conducted a range of internal audits against the WCAG 2.2 AA standards, and have identified the following errors which we are working to rectify:
When completing a quiz, some screen readers start from the top of the page again, instead of starting to read out the answer which appears halfway down the page.
Some downloadable PDFs use inconsistent capitalisation.
Some images in PDFs do not currently have alt text, making tables harder for screen reader users to understand.
Tables include captions and headers, but some in the type 1 diabetes programme have more than five rows, making the data harder for screen reader users to understand.
The Decision Maker may not work fully with some screen readers and keyboard navigation.
Keyboard functionality does not currently fully work for:
o Choosing other languages,
o Completing ranking activity quizzes,
o Setting a goal in Decision Maker,
o Deleting tracker entries.
